Artspark #64

Cross-posted to artspark

A broad topic: Hope. Extra credit for any use of feathers.

A Handful of Feathers

Hoping for kisses

Your eyelids tremble, lashes

Like two black feathers.

Tear-wet, ink feathers

The letter's painful pages.

She hopes you'll answer.

When her mortal soul

Was weighed against a feather

Hope-lightened, it rose.

On his featherbed

She hopes he will be gentle.

If not gentle, quick.

Sun bright on feathers

The starlings gather, hopeful.

You scatter your crumbs.
