An annoying thing about LiveJournal.

If I inadvertently post to the wrong place (like posting to my journal rather than ArtSpark) there doesn't seem to be any way of editing it to put it in the right place. OK, it's not *that* much trouble to cut and paste it into a new post, but just enough to irk me.

Go to "edit post." You might have a little link that says "edit" at the bottom of your entry, or you may have to go to "manage... entries" and call it back by date, or just "most recent."

Follow me? I'm sure you do.

WHEN you are editing the post, there is a selection of boxes at the bottom where you put your metadata: current mood, music, etc. There is also a box that has a drop down menu that has ALL the communities you are a memeber of and your own journal. If you don't choose anything on that box, it will post to your own journal. However, if you choose "Artspark" in that box, it will post to Artspark. This is the quick & dirty way to "move" something from your journal to a community.

Now I'm off to make sure all I've just said is true...

Nope, I guess I lied. Could've sworn I'd done it that way before. I leave my original comment as a statement of how easily confused I am...

There ought to be a drop-down box. There isn't, which is precisely what was annoying me. Seems you can edit everything else about the post, just not that :(

(And your advice was a lovely clear description of how it *ought* to work - it's not your fault LJ isn't as sensible as a foxie!)

when posted to journaleers, i copied and pasted entry into the community.

i wish the comments had an edit button, so if i messed up or wanted to say more i wouldn't have to redo the whole post or make another one. i'm surprised livejournal's never done this.

Yes, that can be frustrating at times.

As far as I know, no - you have to post to each one separately. I've got into the habit of copying my artsparks before I hit 'post' now, but I sometimes forget to change where they're being posted to.
