I was going home from work last night and saw a bunch of police standing around. As I got closer, I saw that part of the road had been taped off. I asked one of the police what was going on and he said that someone had been shot.

This morning the road was still cordoned off. I spoke to the policeman standing there, and he told me that the person who had been shot had died. He was a young man with a less-than-spotless past who had recently been trying to go straight, and who had a little baby. His past, said the policeman, seems to have caught up with him. He would have been nineteen today.

It won't hit the headlines.

What a waste.

It might not make the headlines, but that will still be making shockwaves in 70 years.

People don't know how PRECIOUS they are. Every last one of them.
